Torrance Historical Society Hosts Original Fall Tour of Historic Homes – Tour the Inside of Six Historic Homes
On Saturday & Sunday, October 12th – 13th, 2024, the streets of Old Torrance will be buzzing with visitors from all around the South Bay, as the Torrance Historical Society is hosting their biennial Original Fall Tour of Historic Homes.
Guests will tour the inside of a half-dozen homes, and will see how others have renovated, updated, and decorated their historic homes to accommodate today’s life-style, yet managed to preserve the charming architecture and characteristics of the past.
The homes on the tour reflect an eclectic mix – from Spanish Colonial Revival to Craftsman to Mission Revival to Tudor Revival – which characterize and add to the charm of Old Torrance — founded 1912. Houses on the Tour were built between 1914 and 1928 – making three of the homes 100+ years old! Each home will have a Model A car parked in front of it courtesy of South Bay Touring A’s.
When: Saturday & Sunday, October 12th – 13th, 2024
Where: The self-guided Original Fall Tour of Historic Homes begins at the Torrance Historical Society & Museum – 1345 Post Avenue, Old Torrance
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, both days (Museum opens at 10:30 AM)
Tickets: $50 – tickets are purchased directly from the Museum either day of the Tour via cash, check, or credit card
Refreshments: Complimentary lemonade and Torrance Bakery Cookies (www.TorranceBakery.com) will be served from the historic 1925 Woman’s Club with an added bonus of the Torrance Rose Float Association’s exhibit – Floating Through the Decades – the never-before-seen complete framed collection of Torrance Rose Float winning entries from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
The homes may viewed in any order, on either day, and all are within walking distance from the Museum — the furthest being six blocks away. Local restaurants will be offering Home Tour Specials.
Proceeds from the fundraiser directly benefit the Museum – archiving activities, historical discoveries, research projects, special programs, its operation and exhibits.
