Torrance’s 2022 Salute to the United States Armed Forces

The City of Torrance is known for its rich history in honoring the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year, due to the fluid uncertainties of the ongoing pandemic, the City must once again postpone the 61st Annual Armed Forces Day Parade and Celebration. Instead, the City will celebrate Torrance’s long-standing tradition of honoring and thanking our nation’s service members with a Patriotic Concert in the Park. The alternative event, while smaller in scale will retain the same patriotic spirit of a full celebration.

The City of Torrance invites you to help honor our United States Armed Forces by participating in this year’s events and activities:

A Spring Celebration – Torrance Civic Chorale

The Torrance Civic Chorale will be performing at the Ken Miller Recreation Center on Friday, May 20. This performance celebrates spring and the return of live music and also aligns with the City’s celebration of Armed Forces Day Weekend. Admission is free at the door but donations will be gratefully accepted by Torrance Chorale Friends.

Patriotic Concert in the Park

The City of Torrance is proud to host the upcoming Patriotic Concert in the Park featuring the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band. In celebration of the 2022 Torrance’s Salute to the United States Armed Forces, the free concert will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Charles Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Boulevard beginning at 2:00 PM. The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band consists of nearly 60 musicians including former professional and amateur instrumentalists. The 75-minute concert will be led by Music Directors, Mark Hamamura and Eric Hankey. Pack a picnic, bring your blankets and chairs and come enjoy the sounds of your favorite patriotic tunes.
