On Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., the Western Museum of Flight is hosting a Celebrity Lecture Series – Stratolaunch – Faster than the Speed of Fast
Anyone who needs to test the effects of extreme speeds, (think Mach 5), as well as a wide range of temperatures and pressures, will find that the Talon-A is the right vehicle for the job. This remarkable aircraft can carry a variety of payloads, accelerate them to hypersonic speeds and extreme altitudes, and bring them back, along with a wealth of technical data. What’s more, it can be ready to go again, after just a quick turnaround. It does this by launching from a “mother ship“ (Roc) that carries it aloft, where it detaches, and quickly accelerates. The mother ship is equally remarkable, being, among other things, the world’s largest operating aircraft.
Join Steve Rainey, Stratolaunch Test Pilot Former Chief F-22 Test Pilot for Lockheed Martin, to learn the current capabilities and future developments of this exotic, and very necessary technological marvel.
