Discover Torrance Celebrates Grand Opening of New California Welcome Center
Following the state’s reopening, center will promote travel, boosting local economy
TORRANCE, Calif., June 17, 2021 – Discover Torrance, in partnership with Visit California, the City of Torrance and the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, today held the official grand opening ceremony of the newest California Welcome Center now located at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. The center aims to serve travelers from around the country and eventually internationally by providing information about Torrance, the South Bay region and California tourism.
“As California fully reopened this week, this grand opening was also a celebration for the return of travel. We’re honored to serve as tourism ambassadors not only for the City of Torrance but for the entire Golden State at our new California Welcome Center,” said Linda Amato, board chair of Discover Torrance. “We’re excited to connect with travelers again on their journeys and share some of the best-kept secrets in Southern California.”
To commence the grand opening of the 18th California Welcome Center in the state and the second in Los Angeles County, Discover Torrance hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring guest speakers City of Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey, President and CEO of Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Donna Duperron, legislative representatives, Del Amo Fashion Center representatives and more.
“Tourism is not only vital to our local economy but will be key in overall post-pandemic recovery efforts,” said City of Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey. “Travel spending supports local businesses, essential services and programs in our city. The California Welcome Center will help ensure local tourism continues to grow sustainably, as well as help locals and visitors create amazing memories and celebrate milestones on their next trip.”
Torrance’s Welcome Center provides travelers with information about attractions, lodging, local discounts, maps, brochures, insider tips and fun merchandise. The Welcome Center also features two kiosks that travelers can use to plan their trips and book accommodations.

Torrance’s Welcome Center is located at the main level, entrance one of Del Amo Fashion Center (3525 W Carson St.), one of the largest malls in the U.S. Street signage has been installed to help motorists find this official, state-designated office, with additional freeway signage coming soon.
Torrance’s Welcome Center is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m.
