March 1st through March 31st.

You’re invited to come view a seven-shelf display of Hina Matsuri dolls in front of the Ise-Shima Restaurant (located in the lobby of the Miayko Hybrid Hotel) – admire their delicate and beautiful figures and costumes. Ise-Shima is also offering a Hina-Doll Bento Lunch Special – $36, plus tax (see flyer below).

Hina Matsuri is held on March 3rd, in Japan.  This is a festival for celebrating girls’ growth and good health.  People display graceful dolls in ancient court costumes on a tier of 5 or 7 shelves covered with scarlet cloth.  These dolls represent the Emperor and Empress, court ladies, ministers and court musicians.  The girls are expected to be as elegant as these courtly ladies.

Young girls wear their beautiful Kimonos and get together before the display and have a good time, eating sweet rice crackers (Hina-arare) and drinking white sake (Shirozake/Amazake).  It is also known as the Peach Festival.
