Madre – Halloween Party

In Valles Centrales, Oaxaca, we celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with vibrant public parades called comparsas, families decorating graves with marigolds and ofrendas (altars) of beloved foods and photographs, vibrant marketplaces, sand art, and the creation of Pan de Muerto, all set to the sounds of music and joyous communal storytelling and feasting. The city’s streets and storefronts are adorned with marigold arches, skulls, and papel picado, creating a festive atmosphere for honoring deceased loved ones and celebrating life.
Comparsas are smaller parades held in each neighborhood, celebrated for more than 100 years. They spend up to six months making costumes and then hold a contest to pick the best one. In that tradition, people open their doors and windows to invite guests to come celebrate a lost loved one over hot chocolate or coffee and mezcal in it. People travel from house to house this way, throughout the evening.
Join us October 31st from 9pm to close for a night of Dia de los Muertos! Bring your best costume for a chance to win an exclusive mezcal bottle. Enjoy great food, drink specials, mezcalitos, and live music by DJ @_marvelouz_. Get tickets on Resy.
