Join us for a fun-filled day with exciting activities for all ages. Scaredown in Downtown brings the community together for a memorable Halloween celebration. From thrilling games to live music performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We can’t wait to create new memories with you this year!

Scaredown in Downtown is an annual event held in Old Torrance, featuring games, contests, live bands, a DJ, Trunk or Treat and a marketplace. The event is organized by a non-profit organization of business owners called the DTA and is entirely volunteer-run. It aims to provide a family-friendly experience for all attendees.

What’s New This Year?

• Halloween Maze: Navigate an all-new, spine-tingling maze filled with creative scares and surprises for all ages — sure to be a highlight of the event!
• Vampire Club Car Show: Experience a thrilling display of vintage and custom “vampire-inspired” cars, perfect for car enthusiasts and Halloween fans alike.

Parking: There is a FREE Park & Ride event shuttle, generously provided by Supervisor Janice Hahn’s office. The shuttle will pick-up passengers from Wilson Park and drop people off at the intersection of Cabrillo & Marcellina (near the JFK parklet). More information about the shuttle hours to come.

Attractions: Experience the spine-chilling excitement of the haunted house, engage in games, and enjoy captivating performances that will leave you mesmerized. Don’t forget to capture the memories with plenty of photo opportunities throughout the event!

Live Entertainment: Enjoy live bands, exciting contests, and a lively DJ to keep the energy high throughout the event.

Trunk or Treat: Join us for a fun-filled Trunk or Treat experience that promises a safe and enjoyable evening for children and families! Many local businesses will be open late, offering Halloween candy and exciting discounts. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to celebrate Halloween in our community! 

Vibrant Marketplace: Explore a thrilling marketplace filled with an array of spooky vendors! Here, you’ll find unique products, delicious treats, and one-of-a-kind items that capture the spirit of the season. From decorations to eerie edibles, each vendor offers something special to enhance your Halloween experience. Don’t miss out on the chance to discover these frightfully fantastic treasures!

Engaging Activities: Get creative with crafts, take part in exciting contests, and enjoy the mystical insights of tarot card readers. Get ready for a spooktacular that’s fun and thrilling for everyone.

Dress to Impress: Come dressed in your best costume and immerse yourself in the festive spirit as you explore spooky window displays from local businesses, and enjoy specialty cocktails from nearby restaurants or stop in for a bite (to eat, that is)! For business specials, click here.

Scavenger Hunt: This portion goes from 6-7:50pm and does have a cost of $25. Participants can test their wits in this eerie scavenger quest. Armed with only your courage and a set of cryptic clues, you must uncover the true items that will secure your victory. But beware… not everything is what it seems. Among the cobwebbed corners and ghostly whispers, you’ll find decoys lurking—mysterious objects meant to lead you astray.
