The Western Museum of Flight will unveil a new walk-in exhibit where young girls from any background can identify and explore the many career choices available to them in the world of aerospace. The exhibit will enable them to explore the subject at their own pace and to concentrate on those specific fields within aerospace that are of greatest interest to them. The initial funding for the project came from donations in the memory of Mary Falstrom who died in a tragic mid-air collision in 2016. Mary was a member and docent of the museum. Her devotion to the museum and her untimely death served as an inspiration for the Women in Aerospace project. This walk-in, interactive exhibit, is a tribute to Mary and to the myriad of other women who forged nontraditional paths and who persevered as pioneers. The principal aim of this exhibit is to awaken this same pioneer spirit in all of the young women who come to experience it.
