Spending vacation time in a location you’ve never been to – or want to go to again – has once again become a high priority for most Americans. Located just minutes from Los Angeles, Torrance is close to the big city but without the hustle and bustle. There are plenty of places to explore – beaches, craft breweries and restaurants, museums, outdoor destinations and more – but you can always venture off to other sites in Southern California if your heart desires.
With all the pent-up demand to travel, it can be overwhelming on which destination to pick. Many people rely on their horoscopes for guidance in their daily lives, and to help here’s some recommended Torrance activities based on each astrological sign. The Strand Bike Path
CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 – JAN. 19)
Typical of those born under the goat sign, Capricorns love the challenge of exploration. Sounds like a bike ride on The Strand is in order. Rent a bike from Marina Bike Rentals or a participating hotel and enjoy a 22-mile ride along the gorgeous coastline from Torrance Beach to Will Rogers State Beach in Malibu, with plenty of stops along the way. Then turn around and do it all again!

AQUARIUS (JAN. 20 – FEB. 18)
The water bearer, Aquarians are adventurous and always on the go. A surf lesson at Torrance Beach is a perfect fit for this sign. Torrance is also home to more than 30 parks, one of which features a mock rocketship structure to soar to new heights. Aquarius visitors can find adventure for their tastebuds too – Madre’s is mezcal heaven with one of the largest collections in Southern California.

PISCES (FEB. 19 – MARCH 20)
Travelers under the Pisces star sign, symbolized by fish, love to be one with nature as much as possible, so we suggest the South Coast Botanic Garden in the heart of the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. Take a stroll and visit the 13 specialty gardens, the 2,500-plus plant species and so much more. The Madrona Marsh Preserve, one of the last remaining vernal wetlands in Southern California and home to hundreds of migrating birds, also won’t disappoint.

ARIES (MARCH 21 – APRIL 19)
Bold, motivated and optimistic are words that describe those born under the sign of Aries, the Ram. They know when it’s time for luxury and when it’s time to mellow out. Masters of spontaneity, Geminis (symbol of twins) are a bit indecisive and extremely impulsive. History is important to the Gemini, so a visit to the Chen Art Gallery (1,000-plus artifacts spanning 5,000 years of Chinese history) or the Western Museum of Flight (history of Southern California’s aviation legacy) will pique their interest. Also, lovers of nightlife, Geminis will enjoy livin’ la vida loca as they try to choose from a variety of bars, clubs and craft breweries to visit.

CANCER (JUNE 21 – JULY 22)
Not exactly the masters of directions, Cancer crabs will eventually find where they want to go, and it will probably be a fun adventure getting there. We have a solution: visit the California Welcome Center, located at the main entrance, level one, of the Del Amo Fashion Center. Friendly representatives will help you plan activities in Torrance and California, or you can create your own itineraries with easy-to-use interactive kiosks.

LEO (JULY 23 – AUG. 22)
Leo lions not only enjoy being the center of attention, but they can turn any location into party central. It’s a good thing Torrance residents love good concerts, sporting events and theatrical shows because there’s always something going on. You’ll find a variety of concerts and festivals to par-tay at nearby SoFi Stadium and other venues close by throughout the year. You can cheer for the home team (or your favorite visitors) in practically every sport you can imagine, and the Torrance Theatre Company will entertain you with their artistic and often funny performances. Torrance also has its very own film locations map, which might just be the perfect adventure for a Leo.

VIRGO (AUG. 23 – SEPT. 22)
Perhaps Cancers should travel with Virgos, as they know exactly where they’re going and the best way to get there. Say you want to go to Disneyland in Anaheim, Universal Studios in Universal City, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and Torrance High School, where hundreds of movies and TV shows, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 90210 and Scarface have all been filmed. Torrance is the perfect hub for all things SoCal, and the Virgo in your life will help map out the best routes and enjoy doing so.

Love is in the air whenever a person of the Libra persuasion is nearby. True romantics, Librans are appreciative of everything in life, so surprise your loved one and head to Torrance Beach, an uncrowded gem where you can take a walk, build sand castles or just sit back and enjoy the gorgeous view. Historic Downtown Torrance is an excellent place to browse in the stores and buy that special person a gift, then head to one of Torrance’s 400-plus restaurants for an intimate dinner and drinks, followed by dessert.

SCORPIO (OCT. 23 – NOV. 21)
Prepared for any situation that comes their way, Scorpios tend to take everything on a trip. With preparation the key to their lifestyle, it seems like a cooking class with Chef Michael Shafer at The Depot Restaurant would be a tasty idea. Chef Shafer will have you slicing and dicing up a fantastic meal so you can impress your friends and family. Or learn the process of making beer with a visit to one or more of the dozen craft breweries in Torrance.
Torrance Beach
SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 TO DEC. 21)
Those born under the star sign of Sagittarius, the archer, love taking a risk, especially if adventure is part of the plan. Take to the sky (sort of) with Marina del Rey Parasailing, just a 22-minute drive from Torrance. You’ll get to experience panoramic views of Santa Monica Bay, including Venice Beach and Malibu. You may even catch a glimpse of dolphins or whales, but even if you don’t, the 500- or 800-foot high ride will be a blast!
