Your Game Plan for the Rugby Sevens Weekend in Torrance
Get ready to rugby! The largest rugby event in the USA, the 2023 World Rugby Sevens Series, is landing in the South Bay on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th at Dignity Health Sports Park in nearby Carson. We’re talking 16 teams playing 45 games for 8 hours a day from the USA, Team Great Britain (England, Scotland, & Wales), Ireland, France, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Kenya, Japan, Australia, Fiji, Samoa, New Zealand, South Africa and newcomers to LA 7s – Uruguay and Chile.

Itinerary for Thursday, February 23rd
Fly in early (taking advantage of the less expensive mid-week flights) and relax a lil’ before you gear up for the big game. Many Torrance hotels are offering discounts for the event.
Land in LAX or Long Beach, check into your Torrance digs, change, and head to Torrance Beach. Yes, Torrance has its very own 1.5 mile stretch of uncrowded beach with loads of parking. Many eclectic restaurants and unique shops await your travel-weary self. Even though it’s late February, it’s almost always flip-flop weather in Torrance – We average 72 degrees year-round.

Stay local and take a day to rest before you start ruckin’ and rollin’ tomorrow. Explore as-seen-on-TV sites famous in Torrance like Torrance High School featured in Beverly Hills, 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slyer and films like Bruce Almighty.
You can also treat yourself to some retail (and food and entertainment) therapy at Del Amo Fashion Center, the largest shopping mall in the western United States with three levels, 200+ stores and numerous restaurants including the world-renowned Din Tai Fung, a Michelin star rated restaurant. It also happens to be where they filmed portions of Bad Santa, Jackie Brown and Valley Girl.

It’s game time. The games are played round-robin style and last only 20 minutes each, so they’re all fast and furious. Check the schedule ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss your favorite teams and keep tabs on game results.
