Make Torrance Your Homebase for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
The Summer Olympics is among the most popular and well-attended events in the world, so if you’re hoping to attend the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, it’s a good idea to start making plans. Torrance, located in the heart of Southern California, is the ideal destination when visiting the Los Angeles area with close proximity to a number of the already-announced 2028 Olympic event locations in Los Angeles, Carson, Inglewood, and Long Beach.
There are 15 hotels in Torrance, with an assortment of lodging options and styles ranging from luxurious suites to budget-friendly rooms. Torrance offers a more relaxed homebase for several of the Olympic events.

Olympic Event Locations
The opening ceremonies will be on July 14, 2028, with events continuing through the closing ceremonies on July 30, 2028. LA28, the organization managing the 2028 Olympics, has begun to announce several of the locations. (*Please note dates and locations are subject to change. Also, we are using each site’s existing name, but the Olympics will not use the existing corporate names.)
- Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (Los Angeles, CA) – 2028 Olympic Opening Ceremony and track and field events
- Dignity Health Sports Park (Carson, CA) – track cycling at the velodrome, field hockey in adjacent fields, rugby sevens in the stadium, and tennis
- SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, CA) – all swimming events
- Intuit Arena (Inglewood, CA) – basketball
- com Arena (Los Angeles, CA) – gymnastics
- John C. Argue Swim Stadium (Los Angeles, CA) – diving
- Marine Stadium (Long Beach, CA) – currently under construction, this new site will host rowing and canoe sprint events
- Long Beach Arena (Long Beach, CA) – handball
- Long Beach Waterfront (Long Beach, CA) – marathon swimming and triathalon
- Belmont Shore (Long Beach, CA) – sailing
- Long Beach Convention Center (Long Beach, CA) – a temporary pool in the parking lot will host water polo and artistic swimming
- Los Angeles Convention Center (Los Angeles, CA) – fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo and wrestling, with weightlifting in the Peacock Theater across the street
- Riviera Country Club (Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, CA) – having hosted both the U.S. Open and PGA Championship, it will also host 2028 Olympic golf events
- Galen Center on USC Campus (Los Angeles, CA) – badminton
- Galway Downs (Temecula, CA) – equestrian
How to Get Around
Staying in Torrance and renting a car is always an option, with Dignity Health Sports Park just 6.1 miles away, SoFi Stadium only 13.1 miles away and the Crypto.com arena just 19 miles away, for example. Torrance Transit is another great way to get around with buses heading to most Olympic event locations. The city is developing an extensive public transit plan to make getting around as easy as possible and will announce it closer to the event.
Where to Eat
There are more than 400 restaurants in Torrance offering global cuisines, so you have many options. We recommend anything along Torrance’s Ramen Trail, where you’ll enjoy unbelievably good, fresh noodles in the Ramen Capital of Southern California. There’s also the one-and-only King’s Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant, straight out of Hilo, HI, and nearly any cuisine you can imagine.
Where to Watch the Olympics in Torrance
If you’d like to rest a bit between live Olympic events, then chill in Torrance and watch on a big screen. There are 10 excellent craft breweries in Torrance to choose from. Smog City Brewing Company is known for being especially inventive and Absolution Brewing has remarkable artisan beers and is always bringing out new offerings.
Sports in LA
You don’t have to wait until 2028 to see sports nearby Torrance, as the city is right in the middle of all the professional sport arenas and stadiums in LA. Plan to stay in Torrance for all their home games including the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA), Los Angeles Clippers (NBA), Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (MLB), Los Angeles Chargers (NFL), Los Angeles Rams (NFL), Los Angeles Kings (NHL), Anaheim Ducks (NHL) and Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS).
There’s also a Los Angeles Rugby Team and the LA Rugby Sevens event that draw big crowds every year. The 2026 World Cup will be in Los Angeles and the 2027 Super Bowl will be at SoFi Stadium.
