The Perfect 2-Day Sports Itinerary in Torrance, California

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California

The sports scene in Torrance, California is one of the best you’ll find anywhere. From baseball and football to soccer and hockey — and just about any other sport you can play or watch — Torrance is the Sports Hub of Southern California. We’ve put together a two-day itinerary for sports lovers, but feel free to stay longer. After a full day of cheering and exploring, a good night’s sleep matters. Fortunately, Torrance offers 15 great hotel choices, from luxurious suites to budget-friendly rooms.

Day 1

With many of the places to stay right in the heart of Torrance, you’ll find plenty of spots to grab a hearty breakfast within walking distance or just a short drive away. Bagel Factory cranks out delicious New York-style kosher bagels, along with a host of fresh sandwiches and baked goods, perfect for snacking later in the day. Also nearby is 5th Ave. Bagelry, where you’ll find plenty of bagels, sandwiches and delicious coffee and tea options, a fantastic way to start off your day and fuel up if you’re heading to a live game later.

Once you’ve had your breakfast fill, head out to a live sporting event. A number of Torrance hotels offer low-cost shuttles to the Torrance Transit Center, where you can take a $2 ride for select events at SoFi Stadium, home of the LA Chargers and LA Rams, as well as many other sporting events. Or, if you’re looking to cheer on your team outside of the event, Connect Torrance, an on-demand service, is shared-ride transportation that takes you spots within the city for only $5, and the first six rides are free. Torrance Transit and Connect Torrance also offers inexpensive transportation to LAX airport, other sports venues and nearby amusement parks.

If you have some time before the game, take a quick walk to Torrance Bikes, where you can rent bicycles for the whole family, including e-bikes. Then head for the ocean to Torrance Beach, a beautiful 1.5-mile stretch of uncrowded coastline that offers plenty of room for beach games or just relaxing, as well as warm water where you can swim, fish, surf, paddleboard and so much more. Enjoy a bike ride on The Strand, a 22-mile (one way) bike path that starts in Torrance, with gorgeous views along the way. Unless you packed some delicious sandwiches and treats from your breakfast stop, there are plenty of places along the path to stop for food, beverages and souvenirs.

After returning the rental bikes and a brief stop back at your hotel to clean up, it’s time for a hearty lunch at one of Torrance’s 400-plus eateries. Just a few miles away is Keegan’s Sports Lounge & Grill, featuring nearly three dozen TVs indoors and outdoors on the large back patio to cheer on your favorite teams. And they happen to serve some pretty tasty food, too!

Not to be outdone — and located a couple of minutes from Keegan’s — is Crest Sports Bar & Grill. Offering pub grub and plenty of beer, wine, and cocktails, Crest boasts more than 50 TVs, so if there’s a sports team you want to scream about, chances are good you’ll find them being televised. Should you need to soothe your throat from over-yelling, take a short walk to Foster’s Freeze for a delicious sundae, twister or freeze.

Back in the heart of Torrance, you’ll find the wonder known as Del Amo Fashion Center, one of the largest shopping malls in the U.S. Find your favorite sports jerseys and a whole lot more. It’s also home to the California Welcome Center, a great place to get the inside scoop from local experts and possible discounts on area activities. Take this opportunity to check out The Brews Hall, a multi-concept brewery and food hall located at the mall. Snack on chicken wings, nachos or other tasty treats, and wash them down with a delicious craft beer (or two) from Buzzrock Brewery while you watch the sports action on the wall-to-wall TVs.

You may have time to get some steps in after some delicious brews. Getting away from it all for an hour or so can do a body good, so we’d suggest a visit to the Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center. Admission is free to see one of Southern California’s last remaining vernal wetlands, which is home to an abundance of wildlife.

As dinner nears head a few blocks away to Scardino’s where you’ll find authentic Italian pasta, pizza and seafood dishes made with the highest-quality ingredients. Or perhaps made-from-scratch cuisine from Urban Plates, whose motto is “Everyone deserves to eat this good,” sounds good. Feeling like ramen tonight? You came to the right place, as Torrance is known as the “Ramen Capital of Southern California.” Ko Ryu Ramen serves Japan’s comfort food with bold broth, fresh noodles and a lot of flavor. Now go back to your hotel and get some sleep. You have another busy day ahead of you tomorrow!

Day 2

Another day, another chance to try one of Torrance’s favorite restaurants. Go just a few miles to the east for an amazing selection of breakfast plates, benedicts, coffee…you name it and Clutch and Coffee has it. Make sure to stop in at Torrance Bakery, located just two doors down. Known for their creative cakes, you’ll want to stock up on their mouthwatering, sweet treats. You can also head southeast from your hotel and stop in at King’s Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant, where they’re serving up breakfast entrees, coffee and, of course, sweet bread.

You’re going to want to walk off that hearty breakfast before you really kick it into gear. If you have an evening game, there’s much to see to help you make the most of the day. A short drive to the Western Museum of Flight is a great place to view vintage and modern aircrafts, drones, World War II instruments and more. Don’t tell the kids, but the museum’s fascinating exhibits may inspire them to study math and science.

Charles H. Wilson Park is also a great place for the whole family. One of the largest parks in Torrance, it offers the opportunity to play practically any sport so you can get in the game yourself. There’s also a splash pad, batting cages and on and on. Another draw is the Wilson Park Annenberg Tree House, a 2,500-square-foot (universally accessible) wooden structure with twists and turns and plenty of fun for all ages.

After all that activity, you’re probably famished, so head to Madre Oaxacan Restaurant and Mezcaleria. Featuring a wonderful selection of Oaxacan cuisine  — and for the adults, one of the largest selections of mezcal — you can’t help but find something that attracts your attention, including delicious lunch specials. Or, for a variety of classic dishes, try the American tavern in Old Torrance, Local Kitchen, with everything from appetizers and salads to steaks and fish, all made from scratch.

If you still have time before the game to explore, see the rest of Old Torrance. The Torrance Historical Society Museum offers a unique look at the city’s past, and if you time it just right, you may be able to catch a play at the Torrance Theatre Company. You can wet your whistle and chow down on an appetizer or two at Red Car Brewery, or enjoy a good smoke at the Blue Flame Cigar Lounge.

Everybody loves entertainment, but did you know that Torrance has been the backdrop for more than 200 movies and TV episodes? Click here for a map, which will lead you to locations where scenes from The Longest Yard, Gone in 60 Seconds (both versions), Bad Santa and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among others, were filmed.

Consider Depot for dinner, a popular restaurant led by world-renowned chef Michael Shafer who serves classical cuisine from Germany, Mexico, Scandinavia and more, even America. If authentic Indian food sounds tempting, visit Spice Lane Restaurant and Catering. This eatery specializes in using a variety of spices that make global foods such as Indo-Chinese, Italian and Mexican dishes so good.

If this is your last night visiting our wonderful city, you’ll have to try By Brazil, an all-you-can-eat traditional Brazilian barbecue steakhouse that’s second to none. Fire-roasted meats carved right before you, delicious salads and Brazilian desserts.

Squeeze in one more unforgettable game before your getaway ends. With Torrance at the center of Southern California’s biggest sports venues, it’s the perfect home base for catching the action. From the electric atmosphere at SoFi Stadium, where the LA Chargers and LA Rams take the field, to classic ballgames at Dodger Stadium and Angel Stadium, you’re just a short drive from some of the most iconic venues in the country. Plus, the best is still ahead. LA is at the verge of an epic, back-to-back global sports mash-up, soon to welcome the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl LXI and 2028 Summer Olympics.
